Singapore's second liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminal has officially entered execution phase. Singapore LNG (SLNG), the project's developer and operator, has signed an agreement with Mitsui OSK Lines (MOL) for the charter of a newbuild floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU).
The FSRU will be designed to have a storage capacity of over 7 million cubic feet and a regasification capacity of 5 million metric tonnes per annum (MMtpa). Hanwha Ocean will be responsible for the vessel's construction.
The FSRU is expected to be operational by 2030. Along with the existing terminal on Jurong Island, this second facility will increase SLNG's LNG output to 15MMtpa.
