The first development phase of Repsol's Antofagasta wind power project in Chile has reached first power. The 364MW facility is the developer's largest wind farm yet and one of the largest in Chile.
Antofagasta I, which required a total investment of approximately €400m and 19 months of construction works, is the first renewable project solely developed by Repsol in the country. Commercial operations are scheduled for the next weeks.
Annual production from Antofagasta I is expected to reach 750GWh, enough to meet the needs of 220,000 Chilean homes. A second, 450MW phase is planned.
