Sanofi, a French pharmaceutical company, has signed a power purchase agreement (PPA) with RWE. The agreement will be valid for a period of 20 years, under which RWE will be responsible for providing 21GWh of clean energy per year to Sanofi.
The power supply will be sourced from RWE's Chemin de Châlons 1 wind farm in Marne, France.
The PPA is part of Sanofi's efforts to decarbonise its operations. According to Olaf Lubenow, Head of Commodity Solutions for the UK, North- and South-Europe at Sanofi, “This PPA highlights the relevance and competitiveness of renewable energy, particularly onshore wind, in supporting the growth and decarbonisation of French industry without relying on state subsidies.”
