Saipem and partner PT Meindo Elang Indah have been awarded an engineering, procurement, construction and installation (EPCI) contract from BP. The contractors will carry out works related to the carbon capture, utilisation and storage (CCUS) element of the Tangguh gas project in Indonesia.
Saipem's share of the contract, valued at US$1.2bn approximately, has been disclosed to be about US$1bn.
The company will be responsible for the EPCI of two wellhead production platforms, a wellhead platform dedicated to re-injection of carbon dioxide, and nearly 90km of pipelines. The Karimun yard, Saipem's largest in the world, will be hosting the fabrication.
