Fred Olsen Renewables has required a development licence for its 65MW wind power project in the Scottish Highlands. Consultation with the local community for the Balnespick wind farm has been ongoing since 2023.
The facility is designed to feature nine turbines and an energy storage facility. If built, Balnespick should be able to provide clean energy to the Tomatin Distillery.
The wind farm is also planned to generate a community benefit fund of over £11m during its operational lifespan of 35 years.
