Plenitude, Eni's renewables subsidiary, has broken ground on the Villarino de los Aires project in Spain. The initiative will see the installation of a solar power plant in Salamanca with a generation capacity of 220MW.
Villarino de los Aires is planned to have 265,300 bifacial modules, which will be connected to the national grid through a 3.2km underground transmission line. The plant will be able to generate more than 400,000MWh of green power per year.
Once operational in 2025, the facility should become one of the largest solar power projects in the Castilla y León region, covering an area of over 280 hectares.
