ABS has been selected by bp for support services related to the Kaskida deepwater project in the US Gulf of Mexico. The contractor will be responsible for the classification and engineering verification of the field's new semisubmersible production unit.
The plan for Kaskida calls for the deployment of a semi-submersible floating production unit (FPU) with oil and gas processing capacities of 80,000b/d and 25MMcf/d, respectively.
A final investment decision (FID) for Kaskida was taken by bp in July last year. The operator has informed the field will initially produce from six wells, with first oil expected in 2029.
