The United States' Department of the Interior (DOI) has approved the Maryland offshore wind project. Once complete, the power plant will have a generation capacity of 2GW.
Maryland is developed by US Wind, which is majority-owned by Renexia SPA. The initiative has received an initial approval from DOI, while a development plan approval is still pending.
US Wind's plans for offshore wind farm include the installation of 114 turbines, up to four offshore substations, up to four offshore transmission lines and one meteorological tower.
With this, the US reaches a federally-approved offshore wind power capacity of 2GW.
