National Grid Renewables has broken ground on Dodson Creek, a solar power project in Ohio, United States. Construction, which is taking place in Highland County, is expected to be over by 2025.
Once operational, the 117MW solar farm is expected to avoid emissions of approximately 198,4000 tonnes of CO2 per year. Dodson Creek should also generate US$49m in direct economic benefit for the local community.
Dodson Creek is part of National Grid Renewables' solar portfolio of four projects in Ohio. Along with Yellowbud (already operational) and Ross County and Fayette (currently under construction), the four facilities will sum up to 558.5MW of generation capacity.
