The Indonesian government has granted Eni approval for the company's plan of development (POD) for Geng North, Gehem, Gendalo and Gandang projects. Located in the Kutei Basin, these fields combined form a new production hub called Northern Hub.
With this permit, Eni expects to increase its production capabilities in East Kalimantan to two billion cubic feet per day (bcfd) of gas and 80,000 barrels per day (bopd) of condensates. This output will be directed to both domestic and international markets.
The Geng North discovery, announced in October 2023, will involve the development of of five trillion cubic feet (tcf) of gas and 400 million barrels of condensates.
The 1.6tcf Gehem discovery, meanwhile, will involve the installation of a newly constructed floating production, storage and offloading (FPSO) unit. The vessel will have a process capacity of 1bcfd of gas and 80,000bopd of condensates.
Eni has also been granted a 20-year extension of the Ganal and Rapak development licences.
