ACWA Power has started the construction phase of the Beruniy Independent Power Plant (IPP) project. Located in Uzbekistan, the initiative covers the installation of a 200MW wind farm and a 100MW battery energy storage system (BESS).
The project is developed under a partnership with JSC National Electric Grid of Uzbekistan (NEGU) and is part of the country's efforts to have more of its energy matrix coming from renewable sources.
Beruniy IPP is calculated to require US$260m for its execution. Once operational in 2026, it will generate 800 million kWh of energy per year, enough to meet the demands of 292,000 homes.
