AMEA Power and Ethiopian Electric Power have signed a power purchase agreement (PPA) and an implementation agreement (IA) for a wind power project in Ethiopia.
The 300MW wind farm will be built in Aysha and is calculated to generate 1,400GWh of renewable energy every year. This is equivalent to the needs of more than four million homes, avoiding the emission of over 690,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide per year.
The project will require a total investment of US$620m. It will be the largest wind power facility in the Horn of Africa.
