Eni has confirmed the beginning of gas production from the Argo Cassiopea field offshore Italy. According to the operator, this is Italy's most important gas development.
The field is estimated to contain approximately 10 billion cubic metres of gas (bcmg). Eni calculates that a peak annual production will reach 1.5bcmg.
The project's gas output is transported to shore through a 60km-long pipeline to the Gela plant, where it is processed and fed into the national grid.
