Four years after taking a final investment decision (FID) on the project, Chevron and TotalEnergies have announced the start of production at the Anchor deepwater oil field in the US Gulf of Mexico.
The project features a semi-submerisble floating production unit (FPU) with a processing capacity of 75,000 gross barrels of oil per day and 28 million gross cubic feet of natural gas per day.
The unit is connected to seven wells in the Green Canyon area off the coast of Louisiana. Anchor is calculated to hold up to 440 million barrels of oil equivalent in recoverable resources.
