Fortescue's hydrogen project in Arizona, United States, has entered the construction phase. The developer has broken ground on the project and renamed it Arizona Hydrogen.
Once up and running, the facility, located in Buckeye, will be able to produce 11,000 tonnes of green hydrogen per year. This production will be powered by 80MW of renewable energy.
It is calculated that Arizona Hydrogen will require a total investment of US$550m for its completion. The project is planned to contribute for the decarbonisation of the heavy road transport sector, which in the southwestern US market consumes around 5 billion gallons of diesel fuel per year.
