China National Offshore Oil Company (CNOOC) has reached start-up at the Dongfang 29-1 gas field. The company expects to record a peak production of 38 million cubic feet per day in the first year of operations.
This is the operator's second start-up in 2025, with the first being the Panyu 11-12/10-1/10-2 adjustment development project. Both Dongfang and Panyu are located in the South China Sea.
Dongfang 29-1 is part of the Yinggehai Basin and has an average water depth of approximately 68 metres. The field is connected to a wellhead platform and an associated subsea pipeline.
