Gas production has begun at the Greater Tortue-Ahmeyim (GTA) offshore gas field in Senegal and Mauritania. The GTA project also includes a floating storage vessel where approximately 2.3 million tonnes of liquefied natural gas (LNG) per year are expected to be produced.
Developed by bp and Kosmos Energy, the full GTA initiative is calculated to require an investment of over US$4.8bn. The operational life of the field and its assets is planned to be of 20 years.
LNG deliveries from GTA are expected to follow very soon.
