Northern Endurance Partnership (NEP) announced financial close of its first carbon capture and storage (CCS) project in the United Kingdom. The partnership, which comprises BP, Equinor, Eni and TotalEnergies, will be responsible for the installation of offshore CO2 transport and storage infrastructure in the North Sea.
The infrastructure provided by the initiative will serve three carbon capture facilities in the Teesside area, namely NZT Power, H2Teesside and Teesside Hydrogen CO2 Capture. It involves an onshore carbon dioxide gathering network, compression facilities and an offshore pipeline that will run over 145km.
Construction is slated for mid-2025, with start-up expected in 2028.
