Australia's second-largest energy storage project has just been completed in Melbourne. The 200MW facility was built in the Rangebank Business Park and was developed by a consortium led by Eku Energy and Shell.
The Rangebank battery energy storage system (BESS) is ready to provide up to 400MWh of electricity. The output, fully committed to Shell through a 20-year power purchase agreement (PPA), is enough to meet the needs of approximately 80,000 households.
The system's maintenance services have been secured by Fluence, which also worked on the Rangebank's construction.
