The Sonvanger solar power project has achieved financial close. The 100MW solar park, sponsored by Pele Green Energy (PGE), will be used to power Glencore Merafe Ferrochrome smelters in South Africa.
Sonvanger is South Africa's first utility-scale project to be closed by a single sponsor and IPP.
The advance in the project's implementation process is part of PGE's efforts to become a prominent actor in renewable energy.
