Ocean Winds has announced the installation of Moray West's final offshore wind turbine, a Siemens Gamesa SG 14-222 DD model. This was the 60th machine to be erected at the project's site in northern Scotland.
The turbines in Moray West are Europe's largest offshore commercial turbines, with a generation capacity of up to 14.7MW each.
Completion of the 882MW wind farm is scheduled for next year, when full operations will start. Until then, Ocean Winds will overlook the installation of foundations, substation and cables, as well as the commissioning and testing activities.
