EDF Renewables has received approval from the Welsh government for the Garn Fach project. The initiative is a hybrid wind farm and energy storage project to be built near Newtown.
The wind farm aspect of Garn Fach, which will comprise of 17 turbines, will have a total generation capacity of 85MW. The amount is enough to supply approximately 69,000 homes in the UK.
Garn Fach's initial proposal in 2020 featured 22 turbines, but it has now been decreased to 17 after consultations with the local community.
