ADNOC and IndianOil have signed a long-term heads of agreement (HoA) related to the Ruwais LNG project in the UAE. According to the HoA, ADNOC will supply IndianOil with 1 million metric tonnes per annum (mmtpa) of liquefied natural gas (LNG) for 15 years.
Ruwais LNG is currently under construction in Abu Dhabi's Al Ruwais Industrial City. Commercial operations are scheduled to start in 2028.
IndianOil should become ADNOC's main LNG customer by 2029. The Indian company is expected to offtake 2.2mtpa, of which 1.2mmtpa will come from Das Island.
The HoA with IndianOil is one of several others signed with international companies by ADNOC for the Ruwais LNG initiative. The developer has already secured agreements for more than 70% of the facility's planned output.
