SSE Renewables has announced the beginning of full operations at Viking, a 443MW wind farm in the UK. Located on the Shetland Islands, the construction of the power plant took four years.
The wind farm is operating since June this year. According to SSE Renewables, it should become the UK's most productive onshore wind farm.
The Viking project required an investment of approximately US$760m. It features 103 turbines supplied by Vestas, enough to produce 1.8TWh of energy per year, enough to meet the demands of 500,000 British homes.
