Fuella, a Norwegian company and developer of green hydrogen and ammonia, has signed an area reservation contract for a low-carbon hydrogen hub in Brazil. The contract has been signed with Prumo Logísitica, manager of the Açu Port north of the Rio de Janeiro state.
The hub received a preliminary licence from the state government last January. It intends to produce renewable and low-carbon hydrogen in association with ammonia and methanol production units.
Fuella's first agreement in Brazil grants the company an area of one million square metres within the future hub's site.
An additional memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed between the parties indicates that the green ammonia plant to be developed at the Açu Port will feature a capacity of 520MW.
Annual output is calculated at 400,000 tonnes of green ammonia. Start-up is expected in 2030.
