Tata Power has joined forces with Druk Green Power (DGPC), Bhutan's power utility, for the development of a hydropower project in the country. With a generation capacity of 600MW, the facility will be named Khorlochhu.
The power plant will be located in the Trashiyangtse Dzongkhag district, on the Kholongchhu river. Its completion will require an investment of approximately US$882m.
Tata Power will hold a 40% equity investment in the partnership with DGPC, which will own the remaining 60%. A memorandum of understanding (MoU) for the initiative has already been signed, with a definitive agreement following soon.
