OMV has confirmed its largest domestic gas discovery this century via the Wittau Tief-2a well in Austria. According to preliminary estimates, there could be recoverable reserves worth of 28 million barrels of oil equivalent.
The project's development concept is currently being finalised, with the field potentially being developed in conjunction with an OMV-operated gas facility in Aderklaa, approximately 10 kilometres from the discovery.
OMV anticipates a 50% increase in natural gas production in Austria after the discovery has been fully developed.
