EIC celebrated Oak Anniversary by planting an oak tree, symbolising the deep roots the organisation has in the UK and globally as the voice of the energy supply chain.
Aberdeen, 3 February 2023 — The Energy Industries Council (EIC) — the world’s leading one-stop-shop, energy-agnostic trade association trusted for its energy market data, expertise, opportunities, and networks — celebrated its Oak Anniversary by planting an oak tree, symbolising its deep roots in the UK and globally as the voice of the energy supply chain.
EIC CEO Stuart Broadley, surrounded by senior representatives from the global EIC team, planted the tree in the grounds of the Norwood Hall Hotel in Aberdeen.
"Since 1943, the EIC has grown to become a powerful global voice and partner to the world’s energy supply chain. Originally focused on oil and gas and the UK, we diversified to cover all energy sectors in 1981, and started our international growth journey in 1995. We now have 120 amazing staff located around the world in London, Rio, Houston, Dubai and Kuala Lumpur.”
Mr. Broadley said. “Planting an oak tree in Aberdeen where many of our long-serving members are based is a testament to our deep-rooted history here and a nod to our total dedication to supporting the entire energy industry through our advocacy work, the world-class data and insights we provide, and the events we organise to link the supply chain with project decision makers and policy makers from around the world.
Planting an oak tree is also significant because it kicks off our ESG plans to increasingly offset our emissions through tree-planting programmes around the world, and by supporting the World Wildlife Fund that works in the field of wilderness preservation and the reduction of human impact on the environment.”
The EIC has grown from 13 UK-based founding members in 1943 into one of the world’s largest trade associations, with more than 800 member companies, based in the UK and around the world.
“Another reason that makes Aberdeen a perfect location for our celebratory oak tree is because it’s where our flagship event, the Energy Exports Conference (EEC), is held every year,” Mr Broadley said. “The core purpose of this event walks hand in hand with our strategic goal of facilitating export opportunities for our members by putting them in direct contact with the world’s key project managers and decision makers.”
