Why Angola?
Find out more about the Angolan market as well as the benefits of the trade delegation.
Angola
With daily oil production rates of around 1.35 MMbbl/d as of 2020, Angola remains the second largest producer of oil in Africa.
However, since the start of the Covid-19 pandemic, the market is experiencing challenges related to the spread of the virus and the impact of the low oil price- causing many exploration and development projects to be put on hold.
While activity continues on select projects such as Eni’s Northern Gas Complex, BP’s Platina, and Sonangol’s new refinery in Cabinda, we are expecting deferred projects to begin moving again as early as October 2020.
Angola has the potential for over USD$75 billion of CAPEX spend in the next five years, with projects in the pipeline such as BP’s PAJ100, Chevron’s SLGC, Eni’s Agogo, and Total’s numerous brownfield projects focused around its Dalia, Pazflor, CLOV, and Girassol assets.
With notable multi-billion barrel discoveries including Afoxe and Kalimba expected to exploited in future, Angola is still expected to be a significant market of opportunity in future.
