EIC APAC 2023

APAC ENERGY CONVERSATIONS PRIMARY THEME:

MAKING THE ENERGY TRANSITION MORE REALISTIC

The energy transition is a complex and challenging process, but it is an essential component to addressing climate change. Efforts are already underway, however, there are challenges in the processes of transitioning which are very complex and multi-faceted. As action to address climate change increasingly becoming a priority for governments, financial investors and the consumers, it is likely that all energy industry players now have to explore, choose and decide on their own pathways to decarbonise whilst maintaining profitability and growth.

Some of the challenges affecting energy transition include:
Ensuring energy security, the right speed/pace of transition, the need for orderly and just transition, striking the right balance between economic growth and investments in decarbonisation, development of new energy infrastructure, the emerging trends and technologies, realistic actions more practical for this region and the financing of energy transition.

The central theme of 2023’s EIC Energy Conversations is around ‘Making The Energy Transition More Realistic’ – in light of the challenges stated above. The conference will bring together more than 30 key industry experts from around the region to share their views and experiences in their respective organisations and learn from each other the benefits and pitfalls of their chosen energy transition pathways. Specific low emissions solutions and practical approaches which are already deployed or will be adopted in the near future shall be presented and deliberated. Time is of the essence in addressing the impact of climate change and it has been shown that collaborations and more conversations are needed to get to where we need to be in order to achieve all the climate-related targets.
