Unlocking Opportunities in Sustainable Energy
26th - 27th February 2025 | London, UK
#unlockingopportunities
Organised by
Bankable Energies is a major new event that will bring together the global investment community, key project developers, and policymakers to discuss the global shift needed to attract investment and drive projects forward. Despite the urgency to meet net zero targets, many companies and nations are struggling to make a reality of their commitments, pushing back timelines, and falling short of 2030 interim net zero goals. According to EICDataStream, the current pace of projects reaching financial investment decision (FID) in renewables and emerging markets does not reflect the trajectory necessary to achieve global net zero targets.
This event serves as a pivotal platform to unite the global energy and investment community in discussions to drive action. Join us as we explore solutions to unlock investment for future projects, discuss the policy and regulatory considerations required to accelerate new energy initiatives and highlight the strategies for managing risk associated with future projects.
The first day of the conference will feature discussions among key project developers, policymakers, regulators, investors, and financiers on attracting investment for energy projects. Emphasising the collaboration needed among stakeholders to unlock investment and advance project development to meet net zero targets, the day will conclude with an evening networking reception.
In this keynote address, we will confront the urgent need to expedite efforts toward achieving a net zero energy system. The session will focus on the necessity of accelerating project development and reaching Final Investment Decision (FID) in pivotal sectors crucial for this transition.
In this scene setter data experts will provide an overview of key energy projects, policy and finance landscape in the UK and Europe.
This session will delve into the critical role of regulatory actions and policy frameworks in enhancing the attractiveness of energy projects for investors. It will examine how creating supportive incentive structures can encourage investment, and how reducing regulatory and investment barriers can facilitate more efficient capital flow into the energy sector.
This session offers an overview to what makes a project bankable, focusing on the key factors that make projects attractive to financiers and investors. Covering the critical factors that influence a project’s bankability, and how to build a solid foundation to attract investment.
This session will discuss how strategic partnerships between financial institutions, energy companies, and advisory firms can unlock the funds needed to scale renewable energy projects. It will focus on innovative financing mechanisms and the role of major investment players in accelerating the transition to clean energy.
In this session, developers and operators will collaborate to explore practical strategies for unlocking investment in energy projects. The discussions will focus on the importance of collaboration and identify the key requirements from policymakers, regulators, investors, and the supply chain to reach final investment decisions.
During this session we will discuss the supply chain and technology providers perspectives on the current energy landscape and the challenges they face when projects do not reach the Final Investment Decision (FID). The discussion will address the implications for these stakeholders, including the struggles they encounter and what support they require from policymakers, regulators, investors, and developers to unlock new opportunities and drive project success.
This session will focus on the strategies employed by financial institutions and advisory firms to mitigate risk in energy projects, making them more attractive to investors. It will also examine how large-scale projects can overcome the significant financial barriers often encountered during development.
Join us for an end of day one conference networking reception with partners, sponsors, speakers, exhibitors and delegates.
On day two, the event will offer delegates a choice of two stages: one focusing on Power Generation and the other on Hydrocarbons/Liquids. Each stage will feature project-specific sessions with representatives from various stakeholder groups. This structure will facilitate a thorough discussion on strategies to attract investment, advance projects, and achieve our net zero targets. We will also tackle the challenges preventing projects from reaching Final Investment Decision (FID), explore potential solutions, and draw insights from successful projects globally to unlock opportunities for all parties involved. Power Generation stage will focus on projects from the UK and Europe in offshore wind, nuclear, small modular reactors (SMRs), solar and tidal. Hydrocarbons/Liquids will focus on projects from the UK and Europe in hydrogen, CCUS and sustainable aviation fuel (SAF).
This session will focus on the following projects:
This session will discuss strategies to advance projects both in the UK and across Europe, focusing on how we can streamline pathways to achieve Final Investment Decision (FID). This session will feature insights from industry leaders, policymakers, and experts. Looking at key projects such as Erebus, Floating Offshore Wind Farm, Green Volt and 7SeasMed (Hannibal).
Grid connection plays a crucial role in achieving Final Investment Decisions (FID) for energy projects, as it directly impacts their feasibility, timelines, and overall financial viability. Sector-specific challenges and needs will be discussed to help drive actions to ensure projects can deliver energy to the market efficiently.
This session will focus on the followign Projects
