Overview

Lead the future of offshore wind energy! Is your company ready to stand out in this promising market?

Don't miss the opportunity to take part in the exclusive event organised by the EIC to launch the "South America Offshore Wind Report 2025", produced by its own market intelligence experts.

The aim of this event is to delve into the main aspects of this market and provide you with the knowledge you need to strategically anticipate the Brazilian scenario.

With 247 GW of projects in the IBAMA licensing phase, Brazil is moving forward in the offshore wind energy sector, driven by Law 15.097/2025, which establishes guidelines for the transfer of areas through auctions. Among the strategic initiatives are the pilot projects at the Porto do Açu, in Rio de Janeiro, and at Areia Branca, in Rio Grande do Norte, which are testing technologies and making future expansions feasible.
The Porto do Açu Project, in Rio de Janeiro, proposes the installation of an offshore wind turbine with a capacity of 18 MW, with the aim of acquiring essential data and experience for future commercial projects in Brazil. In addition, Petrobras and the Rio de Janeiro State Government signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to carry out feasibility studies for an offshore wind energy pilot project in the state. This agreement establishes cooperation mechanisms, aligning the project with state policies and promoting strategic actions for the development of the sector. The initiative also opens the door to the development of larger projects, in line with the growing Brazilian renewable energy market.
The Areia Branca Project aims to develop an offshore wind farm with a capacity of 24.5 MW, located 4.5 kilometres from the Areia Branca Porto-Ilha terminal. The project includes 8.5 MW and 16 MW turbines, installed at depths of 7 to 8 metres in the sea, and a SENAI Offshore Wind Test Site for continuous wind measurements over 24 months.
