About this event
Join us on December 10th, 2024, for an in-depth session on hydrogen projects led by Hytron and Porto do Açu, and ABH2 as a partner.
Hytron Energia e Gás, acquired by the German group Neuman & Esser in 2020, is a Brazilian company specialising in renewable hydrogen production and supply. Founded in 2003 as a spin-off from the University of Campinas, Hytron has developed the world's first ethanol-derived hydrogen refuelling station at the University of São Paulo (USP), capable of producing 4.5 kg of hydrogen per hour.
The reformer technology developed by Hytron converts ethanol into low-carbon hydrogen while capturing CO2, resulting in a negative carbon footprint.
In 2024, Eletrobras and Prumo signed a memorandum of understanding to produce green hydrogen and its derivatives at Porto do Açu. This collaboration includes the construction of a pilot plant with a capacity of up to 10 megawatts (MW), along with feasibility studies for larger-scale projects. The agreement aims to leverage competitive hydroelectric power from Eletrobras to support low-carbon hydrogen production, catering to industries involved in the energy transition that plan to establish operations at the port.
In a related development, Fuella, a Norwegian renewable energy company, has secured land within Porto do Açu’s hydrogen hub. This move follows Brazil’s recent approval of a legal framework designed to attract investments in low-carbon hydrogen production. Fuella's project will involve the construction of a green ammonia plant with an annual production capacity of 400,000 tonnes. As the global shift toward clean energy accelerates, the demand for hydrogen, which produces no greenhouse gas emissions, is rapidly growing.
Don't miss the opportunity to stay updated on the latest advancements in hydrogen projects.
