About this event

The EIC is happy to announce the São Paulo Breakfast: Opportunities in O&G with Tenenge and Transpetro

With over 60 years of experience, Tenenge has been actively involved in major oil and gas (O&G) projects in Brazil and internationally, specialising in engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) for energy infrastructure, gas processing, and offshore solutions.

Recently, the company completed the Terminal Gás Sul (TGS) in Santa Catarina, strengthening Brazil’s natural gas distribution network and enhancing energy security. It was also engaged in infrastructure projects for the Santa Cruz Thermoelectric Plant in Rio de Janeiro, contributing to the country's thermoelectric generation capacity.

In the offshore sector, Tenenge, in partnership with the Enseada shipyard and Compagnie Maritime Monegasque (CMM), was selected to build six hybrid oil spill response vessels (5,000 DWT) for Transpetro. These sustainable, high-efficiency vessels will be constructed in Bahia, starting in early 2025.

Internationally, Tenenge has participated in the construction of 19 gas processing units, optimising offshore and onshore gas distribution. It is also involved in the Lobito and Cabinda refineries in Angola, in partnership with Gemcorp and Sonangol. Additionally, the company contributed to the $5.2 billion Etileno XXI petrochemical complex in Mexico, one of Latin America’s largest petrochemical projects.

Transpetro, a fully-owned subsidiary of Petrobras, specialises in logistics solutions for the oil, gas and biofuels industry, with excellence in the operation of numerous first-class assets including oil/gas pipelines and storage terminals across Brazil. In 2024, it recorded a 9.2% increase in ship-to-ship transhipment operations, totalling 959 operations in the year, according to the National Waterway Transport Agency (ANTAQ). The growth reflects the company's strategy of expanding its client portfolio and strengthening its presence in maritime transport.

The company has been doing efforts to revitalise its offshore support fleet under the TP25 Fleet Expansion Programme, having recently signed contracts for 4 newbuild Handy class ships, to be built in Brazilian shipyards, and launched a tender for 8 gas carriers. The aim is to increase cabotage logistics capacity by 25% by 2030.

Transpetro also recently contracted nine Suezmax DP2 class dynamic positioning vessels, doubling its platform relief capacity from 700,000 to 1.35 million deadweight tonnes (DWT) to support the expansion of Petrobras' oil production. The vessels, of 150,000 DWT each, will be built at the Samsung shipyard in South Korea, with deliveries taking place between 2027 and 2028. The contract, valued at US$ 2 billion, will run for 15 years.

The new ships will have low-emission motors, preparation for alternative fuels (methanol and ethanol) and connection to shore power, making it possible to reduce gas emissions by up to 30%, in accordance with International Maritime Organisation (IMO) standards.
